Google Chromecast and setup troubleshooting

You have a Google Chromecast and tried the Chromecast desktop app to set it up and ended up with the following result?

“Something went wrong. We weren’t able to save your settings to your Chromecast.” …….

This error may be a result of router conflict or settings. Here are few options to solve the issue. 

Option 1

Go through the router settings to see if  its not in conflict with the recommended Chromecast settings.

OR

If  you are not using Windows Vista as the cast device, then make sure your router is listed as the recommended one from Google. Type Yes in the filter to see all the recommended routers  which will work with default settings.

Try the Chromecast set up again . This page has instructions for for different devices and different versions of Chromecast.

Contact Google Hardware support team

Reset Chromecast to default factory settings (To perform factory settings: Unplug the Chromecast from TV, while the power is still on, press and hold the button that’s on Chromecast for 30 seconds, after that the blinking white light will turn to red. At this time plug the Chromecast back on to the TV). Try the set up again.
