Stockade Kids – fusion rock
Winners of the 2014 Schenectady County Battle of the Bands!
The sound of Stockade Kids is a fusion of Hip-Hop, Rock, and Jazz which arises from the collaboration of classically-trained and self-taught musicians. They believe that it’s not enough to be original, and strive to use their collective creative processes to elevate their music to the highest levels of art. With a unique duo-horn section, a heavy-grooving rhythm section, a lead singer with a range like Michael Jackson, and a rapper whose words can move even the most ardent Country music fans, Stockade Kids offers something for everyone with unlimited possibilities.
The group formed in the summer of 2012 when Filming Ohio and Scottie Monaco began co-performing at shows at various venues in New York’s Capital District, finishing a short tour with a sold out performance at Yours Jazz Club in Schenectady. By the time the summer ended it was clear that Filming Ohio had more to offer Scottie than the promise of a backing band and Scottie had more to contribute than an occasional one-off verse on a Filming Ohio cover song. Thus, Stockade Kids was born. They released their debut album, “Wax Wings” in the summer of 2013, available for purchase on iTunes and Bandcamp, and streaming on Spotify.
